OVERTURE AND BEGINNERS, PLEASE
Since his last visit here, presenting An Evening At The Pictures three years ago, Roger has been busy in the Entertainment world with Managing the West End Premier of the play Calendar Girls starring Lynda Bellingham, Siân Phillips and Patricia Hodge.
He then went on to Managing Deathtrap with Simon Russell Beale. Both these productions were presented at the Noel Coward Theatre in St. Martin’s Lane.
Apart from those he also completed a very successful world tour with Cliff Richard and The Shadows.
At the beginning of September he finished principal photography as First Assistant Director on the film of Ray Cooney’s very successful farce Run For Your Wife. Working with Dame Judi Dench, Sir Donald Sinden, Neil Morrissey, Denise Van Outen and a host of well-known British Actors playing cameo roles.
Tonight he would like to share with you some of the West End Musicals with which he has been associated, and some stories of the wonderful artists that he has worked with.

VOCAL TREASURES ONLINE
Richard is Secretary of the Recorded Vocal Art Society of London, which for nearly sixty years has been promoting the heritage of classical singing. Presenters include members of the singing profession, distinguished academics, record collectors and others. The current season includes talks by Dame Noram Major, biographer of Dame Joan Sutherland, the baritone Sir Thomas Allen, the mezzo Sally Burgess, John Lucas, biographer of Sir Thomas Beecham, the accompanist Ingrid Surgenor and many others. The Society's current programme will be available at the meeting on November 11.

ELGAR’S ORATORIOS
John Kelly worked in the honourable profession of banking for 40 years, and retired in 1993 before the so-called "market traders" degraded its reputation.
He has had a life long love of Elgar's music, having grown up in Manchester in the days of John Barbirolli's championship of the Halle Orchestra.
He has been a member of the Elgar Society for 30 years, and has served as its general secretary, London Branch treasurer, and currently he is Chairman of the Society's Southern branch which meets at Havant.

MUSIC BY THE BOHEMIANS
Margaret and Colin Dorothy joined Croydon RMS in 1964, where she served on its committee for 21 years from 1985 as Secretary, Programme Secretary and Chairman. They joined Carshalton and Wallington RMS in 1970 and Colin later became Secretary, a post he held for 23 years.
Margaret was on the committee of the Federation of Recorded Music Societies for a year (2000-2001). She attended music appreciation classes at Birkbeck College, London for several years, has a particular interest in music of the 20th Century and very much enjoys chamber music.

WAVING THE FLAG
Peter has survived a long and distinguished career in Teaching. Over 40 years he has been Head of English Department in 4 different countries, home and abroad. He has also been an Examiner for Cambridge University. In the early 1990s he was winner of the BBC Counterpoint competition for people with the most musical knowledge, achieving a record score.
Peter recently retired from the post of Chairman of Sunbury Music Club after 30 years. Since giving up full-time teaching, he has given 400+ talks on a wide variety of subjects to almost 100 different societies.  
In 2012 he will be making his nineteenth visit to Surbiton RMS.  His presentation in 2010 was on the 25th. anniversary of his first. (He is also proud of being invited at least 24 times to speak to his local Jewish community – surely some sort of record for a Catholic!).
